10:30 am | Practical Ayruveda | YOGA LOFT 2
Maria has been practicing and studying ashtanga yoga since 2008, initially learning from teachers Dave and Cheryl Oliver in Scottsdale, Arizona. While learning yoga, her teachers introduced philosophy, chanting, sanskrit and the adjusting of poses right from the beginning. While learning from many other master teachers, books and classes, what she ultimately discovered is that the best teacher is her own practice. There is learning every time she gets on the mat…experiencing, feeling and discovering…learning about oneself. There is no better teacher than experience itself.
She has been studying ayurveda for almost as long as yoga, but officially began her studies at Kerala Academy in 2017 and is currently enrolled in the second year Practitioner program. She is active with NAMA (the national ayurveda professional organization) and chairs the Student Membership sub-committee. Ayurveda is the perfect complement to yoga, as they stem from the same philosophies and completely support each other. The eight limbs of yoga target the mind and body through the practice of focus and awareness. Ayurveda targets the mind and body through diet, routine and lifestyle. Both sciences bring one back to nature and the natural, divine states.
